Kentland Federal Savings & Loan is located in the same building, it was founded a century ago and is run by the same family. President John Sammons and prior to him, James A. Sammons are the fourth generation of the Sammons family to run the financial institution preceded by Hume L. Sammons, George F. Sammons, and James E. Sammons. The bank founders, directors, and the Sammons family believe in engaging in and growing a strong community, placing the customers before corporate interests. Kentland Federal Savings & Loan aims to invest in the community and individuals, empowering them through financial success.
We operate with a sense of pride that we have helped our community by providing sensible financial instruments critical to financial independence. We help people acquire their first real estate mortgages and offer savings accounts and certificates of deposit. It’s local money, serving local people. All of the investments are helping residents purchase homes. For a visual, just think about George Bailey in the movie, “It’s A Wonderful Life”. Doing good in a community is a two-way street; we live by community values and encourage others to do the same.
People tend to think bigger is better, which is not always the case. With $3 million in assets, Kentland Federal Savings and Loan is the smallest bank in America. We have been fortunate to impact uncountable lives over the years and plan to grow through the same morals, values, and ethics passed along from generation to generation.
